Dear Patients, Community and Friends,

We hope that you are all well and being resourceful in your lives!  The universe can test our character but we can come out stronger on the other side if we use this wisely as a reset for our lives.

Pursuant to the governor's executive order to shelter in place we are closing Wellness Chiropractic for the next several weeks.  We will watch the trend of this pandemic and keep you posted on when we will re-open.

Below you will find the email addresses of the doctors.  You may use these to communicate with us and we may arrange a telemedicine consult or other means of addressing your concerns. If you have a true emergency and our intervention will eliminate the need for a visit to the ER or your PCP,  contact the doctor via email.  Your provider will make a clinical decision if this constitutes an emergency and may make arrangements to evaluate and treat your acute condition.  The doctors' criteria for seeing a patient will necessarily be strict so please do not use this service without due consideration.  Dr. Aker will not be treating patients during this time due to a birth coming to his family in 4 weeks and he wishes to safeguard himself and Dana so that they might welcome this child into the world.

We will be placing and filling orders for supplements weekly on Fridays.  We will contact you to pay in advance and when your supplements are ready for pick-up.  Please plan for your needs as we may not have what you want in stock and it could be a week before it is ready for pick-up. If you need your supplements shipped there will be a postage fee. The email contact for orders and finances is

We have some recommendations to help you come out of this challenge in better health than you went in.

1.  Make a gratitude journal and write in it!  If you jot down 2-3 things each day that you are grateful for it resets the brain from the stress mentality that is fostered by the media barrage. If you like an app, a good one is Day One Journal/Diary App.

2.  Exercise!  Follow online or reach out to for help.  Come out of this in better shape than you came in!  Movement is essential to reduce stress and maintain brain clarity.

3.  Practice conscious acts of kindness.  Go out of your way to help others, connect with others through social media or phone.  Support each other.

4.  Clean out your chaos during this time.  This is a chance to declutter your space as well as your head.  Binge watching is clearly the opposite of clearing out the clutter.

Again, we will be ramping up our virtual efforts in response to your individual needs, so please know that we would love to hear from you with any special requests, ideas or health goals you would like to focus on during this time.  We will listen and respond with the same care as always.  We are here to help and serve any way we can!

James Cash D.C., A.K.

Dr. Cash graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry.  During his time there, he served as a teaching assistant for the chemistry department and helped conduct research for the department and worked on a major project funded by the U.S. Department of Defense.  He attended Logan University where he earned his second Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology and his Doctorate of Chiropractic. During his time at Logan, he worked tirelessly to become certified and proficient in many Chiropractic techniques such as Diversified, Applied Kinesiology, Logan Basic, Flexion/Distraction, Activator, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue, and Active Release Technique. He was trained in the Human Performance Center and has an extensive rehabilitation background.

He has treated athletes with all experience levels from pee-wee to NCAA Division 1 and even professional.  He has a passion for Functional Medicine and believes that the key to Optimal Health and Wellness starts in the gut.  Dr. Cash practiced at a very busy Federally Qualified Health Care Facility in Old Town, Maine for the past 2 years and is excited to bring his knowledge and skill set to the Blue Hill area.

Dr. Cash realizes that each individual’s body is unique in itself. Therefore, he works with the patient to design a treatment plan that meets that individual’s specific health needs. Complications can arise from imbalances in structure, biochemistry, and emotions and all of them can and will affect the body’s physiology. He has a passion for helping patients to improve their health and life.

Dr. Cash and his wife Jackie, together with their two wonderful children, Kaylee and Jimmy, spend a great amount of time hiking and exploring Maine’s beautiful landscape.

Chiropractic care is safe for the infant, toddler and children and helps to ensure that a child’s nervous system and immune system are optimally developing. Gentle adjustments during these early life stages have been shown to reduce or eliminate symptoms of colic, reflux, earaches, latching problems and behavior concerns.

Matthew Thompson, D.C.

Hello, my name is Dr. Matthew Thompson.  I am originally from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. I am frequently asked what brought me to Maine.  In June of 2017 my family and I decided to embark on a new adventure with a road trip to New England.  Little did I know at the time that our trip up north would leave a lasting impression on me. From the lush green forest to the majestic waves and ocean breezes, historical towns and genuinely friendly people, Maine was simply the right fit.

Even at a young age I knew that I was destined to contribute to the well-being of others. Growing up in a rural area of northeastern Kentucky, I witnessed much suffering from debilitating lifestyle conditions and musculoskeletal based pain. I knew deep down that there had to be other options to address these concerns and help others achieve the best version of themselves. At the age of 23 I met a chiropractor at a local community event educating the public about chiropractic care and my entire paradigm of thinking was transformed. While under his care, I noticed great improvement not only with my pain but also general health and well-being. I knew that chiropractic was the direction I wanted to take in leading others into a more self-sustainable, healthier life.

I specialize in instrument assisted chiropractic tools as well other non-manipulative chiropractic techniques. I have extensive training in working very intricately with a variety of musculoskeletal based conditions. My background in working with structural stabilization of the upper cervical spine has provided a solid foundation for my work. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to work with people in a drug free, non-surgical manner. I believe in providing excellent care and wellness initiatives so that others may live an optimal life. I look forward to serving each of you and the DownEast communities.
